The Norman Foster Foundation in Madrid was officially launched on 1 June 2017, with the forum 'Future is Now'. Over 2,500 attendees and 100,000 online viewers followed the forum from all around the world. Experts, students, thinkers and practitioners from the broad fields of architecture, design and innovation were invited to discuss the most pressing challenges of the built environment.

The Norman Foster Foundation invited model-making students from the AUB to create replicas of process models that existed during project elaboration but were lost decades ago.

The Norman Foster Foundation works with the Barlett School of Architecture to select recipients for the scholarship. The Foundation funds the full academic fees of one student per year. This ensures that the most promising candidates in Europe, regardless of means, have the opportunity to undertake the Bartlett School’s Architecture BSc course. This scholarship was first awarded in the 2017/2018 academic year.

This year’s Robotics Atelier, related to design and building, was explored in a week-long event hosted in the Madrid Headquarters of the Norman Foster Foundation

The first Norman Foster Foundation Robotics Atelier took place at Espacio Fundación Telefónica, in which ten students from all around the world explored the potential for this field as applied to build and construction technologies.

The first Norman Foster Foundation Digital X Workshop took place on 15-19 January 2018, supported by Future Planet Capital.
